I will be living in KL for around 4 months from early July.  I will be attending Traditional Malaysian theatre and dance classes.

As a student I am looking for appropriate accommodation, that is, not too expensive (student remember) but with reasonable security, bathroom facilities and hopefully cooking facilities.

I will mainly be around the area of University of Malaya and Titiwangsa.

I am not having any success looking on my own. PLEASE does anyone have advice?

Please post this in Accomodation section in KL Classifieds, BTW you might find an accomodation in existing ads!

University malaya & tasik titiwangsa is quite a distance from one another.

If you are not going to own a car (would not suggest a motorbike though that may be more practical), then, look for a place close to the train station.
UM is along LRT line, Titiwangsa is along STAR line.
Practical places would be in PJ, Bangsar, Brickfields, Kg Baru area.

4 months tenancy with full facilities can be quite a challenge.
If you have a limited budget, then your options would be:
1) Share a house/apt with other students
2) Rent a room with family
4 months may be too short for most tenancy, so try negotiating paying for 6 months instead (it might work).

If not, consult your study program and see if you could find a host family.
I think this may be possible especially because you are coming over with an interest in the traditional dance/culture study.

Good luck

I strongly recommend that you come here first go to where you study and see how far you will be travelling then see the star newspaper classifieds for yourself.
No need agent and you will do it yourself.
I am Australian living here long time I know what I am talking about it.
You can talk Australians living here and would be good idea take theyr advice.
