Career workshops in Singapore?

Post new topic

KikiK

Hi everyone,

I moved to SG a couple of months ago and I am still looking for a job. Some people told me that the application process is different here, that resumes and cover letters should be written differently than in my home country. I was wondering if anyone knows of any career workshops that might help me to improve my application and prepare me for interviews. We used to have workshops like these at uni but i couldn't find anything similar here. TIA!

There are a number of sites that offer tips to write resume.  You may want to visit them first to get instant tips.

Unlike other, bigger and less globalised countries, there is no standard for job applications in Singapore.
Most multi-nationals prefer the format of their home country (e.g. for USA companies no picture is allowed, for German companies a picture is mandatory), but in general the content counts more here than the form.

Hi all,

Thank you for your help!

YvonneLS, thank you for the great link! I joined the American Association of Singapore and signed up for some of the career workshops :) (aasingapore.com/crce-workshops/). The woman in charge I spoke to seemed incredibly competent so I have high hopes! I can imagine it's also a great opportunity to network.

You don't have to go to career to find jobs. Just google for jobs in singapore and you can easily find one. Example, jobstreet, stjob and etc!
