Hi,

I'm new to forum but been to Qatar for work a few times.  I'm now here for 4-5 weeks and looking for things to do or a few people to socialize with.  Also, any suggestions for upcoming events?  ...I'm thinking about going to Sheik Faisal museum soon.

Cheers, Al

Hello all,

I'm moving to Doha in a few weeks and thought I'd at least have a read through the forum to get an idea of what is there! My name is Phil, from near Liverpool, England and 32 years young. I'm after advice regarding social football teams, golf (the Doha golf club is a little out of my budget for now) and where bachelors like myself like to have a drink of an evening.

Any advice more than welcome, ideally want to join a football team in my first week to help me settle in.

Cheers,

Phil

Hi all,

Thought I'd take some time to introduce myself as en English expat moving to Doha next Sunday (1 Feb) originally from the wirral near Liverpool.

Big football fan (Everton unfortunately) love to play as well as watch. Will be looking to join a team whether it be 5-a-side or just for a kick about once or twice a week. Also a big golfer, will be playing as much as possible although the cost of it may be an issue to start!

Laid back lad who likes to chill out, socialise and have the odd beer.

Will be looking for accommodation and stuff after a few weeks but will get my first week out of the way in company accommodation first. Any advice on best areas welcome, although my budget for that isn't massive.

A very average intro as I'm not much good at these things. Looking to make some friends and try and settle in over there quickly.

Cheers, Phil

Hey,
Hope you have better luck than we had when we first moved here, housing is insanely expensive, but i think where we live, in Duhail, everything is within arms reach. We dont get alot of heavy morning traffic to westbay, and all the malls and hotels are accessible. Our place is a fully furnished villa thats been converted to cute little open plan flats, we have parking securty and a pool! beach is an hours drive, and a Mall is being built less than a minutes walk away. bills are included and its still not super crazy prices. when you get here you can come with an estate agent and see it for yourself.
Lots to do here, just have to be open to experiencing whats available and think of it all as a learning experience. Best of luck to you!
