Why I cannot send private message ????

Post new topic

SVO2008

Hi,

Why I cannot send private messages ???

I got 2 emails but I find it very very strange that I cannot send my emails
to them because you think that I send
SPAMS to them ????????

I just don't understand this !!!

If you want to block me, just say so !

Thanks,

Suzana

Hi,

everything is explained here https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=23238

CARNAL

I am in the same situation, I have people responding to my forum posts and I cannot answer them, they think I am ignoring them becasue I am a 'new member' you wont let me contact them.

I have announced myself in the forum and answered a few forum discussions as you suggest, but ironically, without spammiing forums to get my posts up you wont let me make contact with people who have asked me questions.

Why just control spam by blocking people who get reported - not everyone who joins?

You are encouraging spam to get up to the magic number of posts to get some freedom to reply?

Just seems a little counter productive...

Believe me, we don't like these rules, but they protect our active members.

Once we had one guy who sent something like 2,000 private messages to our members on a Sunday. All copy and paste crap.

We don't work 24h 7/7 (and I am not supposed to work on Sundays by the way). Two days later, we installed that anti spam system. It only blocks you if you are new, and only if you sent copy/paste messages...

jitendra

how can i unlock this?sometimes we need to send same question or message that's why we copy and paste it.

Yud

Hello Jitendra,

Everything is explained in this thread:

I just joined the expat-blog community and currently browsing the site and forums to learn more. The auto-blocking measure implemented is a little inconvenient or surprising for new users who want to become active from the get-go, but I think it's worth the level of security to protect members from spammers. If possible, a feature for real users to appeal their blocked messaging system would be cool, but it would be additional work for the maintainers of this community.

I look forward to learning more and meeting new people.

Thanks!

Armand

Hi and welcome on the forum BillyMartyn :)

As you may have read this measure is not permanent and can be solved by yourself. Just follow our tips and everything should be fine ;)

Have a nice day

I have got the same issue. By the way, what is definition of a new member. I have joined Expat.com since november 2010. Actively replied to many posts here on different forums. But still got the same crap.

Sending new message is something else than that of replying a message. There should be a solid way out to differentiate between spam and legitimate-messages.

This is so irritating. As a member, I strongly urge for a remedy to this.

Hi Ahmed,

just avoid copy and paste messages, and it should be fine !

I have just been reading about all these folk who cannot reply to other memebers because they are new members. I agree with what they are saying and have experienced the same problem myself. Perhaps the administrators are being over protective ? I think if we were all asked i think we would be saying that we don't need a nanny  and that we should all be regarded as sensible adults. Ok there may be a few individuals out there who can be a nuisance but lets not let them spoil the party for the rest by creating a block on communication between good members..

Yud

Hello Simbol,

It is an automated system which systematically blocks all users who copy-paste message via private message. As the founder explains, in this thread: https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=23238 (all spam are sent via copy-paste medium).

So, what do you suggest in order to fight spam on this wonderful community. Also, I found it a bit "improper" on your behalf to qualify the team as your nanny.

Regards

simbol

I am sorry you find the word " nanny " rude. you obviously don't properly understand the way in which i used this word.
We refer to " The nanny State " in England as a way of saying that the state interferes in things sometimes and that it is unessesary and counter productive. This is the context in which i was using the word so it can hardly be described as rude.
I was merely making a point that perhaps your contributors to this site aren't always as dumb as you indicate. Perhaps a bit of spam is not such a bad thing when you look at the bigger picture. Rather that than the silence which seems to be a feature of this site after you have dampened everyones enthusiasm to communicate with each other !  Funny that, i thought that was the whole purpose of this site !
Ok so lets see you argue against that,  with respect !

How??? You mean spammers bring contribution to the site... I guess you are wrong. However, personally I think a site which are lenient to spammers could be consider as unsafe and will eventually discourage other faithful/sincere members  to participate and log in.

Though, I will certainly agree that:
-Not all members who copy-paste messages are spammers.

I guess our conversation is bringing this thread a little bit off-topic. Excuse to the initiator.
