Buying Camera Gear in Indonesia

For those photography enthusiasts new to Indonesia, I just want to share my knowledge of good places to purchase cameras and camera accessories. Although I have bought lenses and filters in both Surabaya and Bandung, my preference has always been to buy camera gear in Jakarta. The two best stores, in my opinion, are JPCKemang and Focus Nusantara which have fixed prices and reliable quality. Both stores have websites which is great for price comparisons. The good thing about Fokus Nusantara is that they will deliver, I remember giving them a call and ordering a couple of lenses which they brought to MacDonald's in Taman Anggrek Mall and even when I rejected one they went back and immediately brought a replacement. I call that pretty good service.

Please note that while Canon camera equipment is very well priced in Indonesia and includes warranty by Datascript, some other brands such as Nikon and Sony are considerably cheaper in other neighbouring countries such as Malaysia.
