I'd like to visit Thailand in August, but I don't have my passport yet

I will be flying to Japan next month, but I had to renew my Canadian passport. I am still waiting for that to come back in the mail, which I'm told should be around the end of May.

This means that I don't have the required information needed for a Thailand visa application. I don't know about the process other than a few things I've read online - but from what I understand, it will take at least 2-4 weeks for the application to be processed. There's no way I can do this from Japan, is there?

Is it too late to be able to visit Thailand? I would have likely stayed for the full 30 days I would be allowed.
On a side note, I've never traveled to Asia before (and I've only traveled alone for big trips a couple of times before). Sorry if there are any other necessary details I've left out.

Thanks :)

Hi

No big problem with Thai Visa if you do not have time in Canada.

Two choices:

1. Visa Exempt arrival, you will get 30 days at BKK as a Canadian citizen, same at a land border too if you weren't flying in.
2. Apply for a tourist visa in Japan if you are near a Thai Embassy/Consulate. Should be processed same day for personal application. Minimal paperwork.

PS If you live near a Thai Embassy/consulate in Canada why not give them a ring and check out your options once you have your passport back. In the UK they will take personal applications for tourist visa at consulates. Same day service if you book appointment. Maybe its the same in your country too.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

I didn't even realize Canadians qualified for the visa exempt arrival. I wasn't planning on staying for longer than a month anyway - so this should work perfectly for me.

Thanks so much for clearing that up.
