Hello everyone!

Post new topic

TWalton231

I'm currently living in Indiana, one of the most boring states in the US. There is zero culture here (only 3 languages offered at my school, no quality teachers) and the only foreign restaurants are totally Americanized. Basically, I'm not happy living in the US, if you didn't catch that.

My hobbies include writing music, reading long books and walking everywhere. I'm also a huge fan of languages. I speak basic Spanish (from school), a smidge of Italian and I'm currently trying to learn Russian (it's not so bad x_x). My best friend is currently in the north of Spain (forget what the town is called) and she absolutely loves it. Another good friend of mine is in Brest, France (I hope that's how you spell it!) and she also adores it.

I'm going to be graduating high school at the end of this coming school year (Seniors 2011!) and I'm looking to pursue a degree in musical composition. As many people, including my parents, have pointed out, I won't get anywhere with this degree.

The reason I joined this site was to learn more about living in Europe. I had this crazy idea the other day that I could just skip college altogether and use my money to go start up in Europe. I'm probably wrong, but it's fun to see what'll happen in a year!

Hi Taylor,
Good luck in your search for a dream place to live.
I moved to Montenegro myself from France 3 years ago, and I don't feel like I need to go anywhere else, anymore, since there is almost everything here. Reading at your hobbies, I have the feeling you'd be pretty happy here.
Also, unlike in the US of France, UK etc. there are tons of opportunities here. To me all seems salturated in the western world, and the new "wild west" is definitely here.

It's always nice to see / read about people who want to follow their dreams and instincts, despite what Society tells them what is best for them (it makes me think of this great song in "Into the Wild" by Eddie Veder "Society")  :)

I believe that if you follow your dreams, you will succeed, whatever the field.

Take care, and let me know if/when you move to Montenegro!

Cheers,

Carine

finding out on life abroad, you made a smart decision by joining the ranks of the expat-blogites :P

as is the saying in life, measure twice, cut once. before travelling to Europe, it would be a good idea to know where it is you want to go exactly, and get a wee bit of linguistical know-how.

college is the safety net you can fall on if things do not go as planned, and i dont mean to sound old by saying it but u know its true. others have survived and thrived without it, so u could be one of those elite, depends on your risk appetite.

to your future ^^,
