.
Don't forget to mention where you are living

Let's compare the:

> accommodation prices (how much does it cost to rent or to buy an accommodation in Russian Federation
?)

> public transportation fares (tube, bus etc ...)

> food prices(per month, how much does it cost you?)

> health prices (for those who need medical insurance)

> eduction prices (if you need to pay)

> energy prices (oil, electricity)

> common bills (Internet, television, telephone, mobile phone)

> prices of a good menu in a traditional restaurant

> prices of a beer or a coffee in a regular pub

Thanks in advance for your participation!

It is difficult to say something definite about this. Russia is a big country, so the prices in each city are different. Or do you mean Moscow?

Welcome Elena_S,

yes, Moscow would be a very good start! :)

Some data about St.Petersburg as of June 2009

One bedroom flat outside the city center in average condition without furniture would cost you around 370 euro. Utilities will eat about 50 euro more.

Transportation
Undeground (Metro)token - 20 RUR / 0.46 euro

Ground transportation system is quite complex and requires knowledge of Russian. There are municipal/state owned buses/street trams/electric buses. The cost of the ride - 18 RUR / 0.40 euro. You will spend some time waiting for them and in rush hours they are overcrowded, not mentioning that they are old and ugly.

There are a lot of private buses of various size and condition . The fee is usually 26 RUR / 0.60 euro.

Medical services.
Use private clinics, they provide at least some comfortable conditions and well equipped. This doesn't guarantee good healing though. Russians seek good doctors on mouth-to-mouth approach. Anyway, average fee for a specialist in private clinic ranges in 1000 - 3000 RUR per visit.

I have a blog which informs about cost of living in Russia's second largest city - Saint Petersburg (Sankt-Peterburg).

I shall try to update it every half of the year.

The address of the blog is as follows: rusprice.blogspot.com

Thank you very much!

Omsk, Siberia. ;)

Transport -
Bus/tram: 9 roubles
Marshrutka: 12 roubles

Shopping -
Milk (1L): 30 roubles
Bread: 15 roubles
Meat: 150-200 per kg
Juice: 70 roubles
...I used to live in Spb and I'd say most things cost about the same here - food, clothes, technology, etc.

Rent -
1-bedroom flat: 6000 roubles per month
2-bedroom flat: 8000-10000 roubles per month
...rent is very cheap here - these prices include bills.

Hard to find 2 things in Omsk though...a visa and a job! =))
