Coming to Singapore for study & to look for job in visitor visa

Hi SMS, and welcome to the forum!
You can apply for jobs and attend interviews on a visitor visa (SVP), just not work.
I don't know about job chances in the hairdressing/beauty scene, but generally locals with similar skills must be hired preferentially, so you should concentrate on your areas/skills that are rare in Singapore. You'd earn a lot less than in UK, though.
Accommodation in Singapore is expensive, and the cheaper options may be informal brothels or otherwise not recommendable to single women. Try to avoid anything under S$100/night unless you have seen the place and are very sure it is o.k.!
