I have been in saudi arabia in 1996 about 1 year , I left it in 1997 , during that time i had my driving license , after all this long time away from saudi arabia now i came back again with new visa , my question is that, is it possible to renew the same driving license of mine or I have to start the procedures from the beginning? . I will be happy to hear from you soon

This question is best asked at the driving school. However, since you left on final exit, any document from your previous stay here cannot be renewed, it has to be issued fresh. Whether they give you a new license on the basis of the old one, or make you take a test and then classes, I don't know, but I would suspect the latter.

Though there is an exception in cases like yours: They do issue a new license based on the old one even if someone had left on a final exit visa (without classes or tests).

Since you are returning after 17 long years, I'm not sure if you'll be able to avail that provision. Check that out with any driving school.
