I would also appreciate knowing where the information of entitlement to health services, as a dependant of another who has an S1 through a UK State Pension, comes from. I stand to be corrected but my information is that each individual may be entitled, according to individual entitlement.

On Malta the cost of a burial plot, 2 years ago, was estimated to be in the order of E10,000. If you can get one that is as when the Govt announced an intention to sell of another 3000 of them there were already about 6,000 people on a waiting list, with the oldest application dating back 20 years.
On Gozo I have heard that the cost could be as high as E30,000, if you can get one.
Do not forget the fees for management and disposal of the body.
The cost of repatriating a body to the UK, 2 years ago was in the order of E10,000.
There is no cremation on Malta, the body is sent to Sicily for that and ashes returned.
Personally, I have no intention of leaving the responsibility for this to my wife.

Some posters on this forum will be lining up to organise it for you!!

Don't give a flying fc&k.
They can flounce and throw their teddies around as much as they like.

Thanks Redmik. Yes very expensive, is the cost of the cremation on Sicily much cheaper, or even a burial at sea,( if these to are expensive- a black bin bag)

I looked into burial at sea recently and found it is not widespread, limited to an average of five burials per year. Burials take place at a defined location at sea according to the following co-ordinates: Latitude 35 Degrees 54 Min North and Longitude 014 Degrees 34 Min East. This location is approximately 2.5 nautical miles (4.6 kilometres) north-east of the Grand Harbour. Only biodegradable materials can be used for the construction of the coffin used for such burial.

Black bin bag? Remember collections are not everyday  ;)

eddiepie

I could wait a day or 2 for collection  better than 20 years to be buried (might be a bit high) looks like a trip to Sicily at some point.   Than you. Eddiepie.

Has anyone here had close or financial experience and/or knowledge of a burial in a public plot as opposed to a private plot? :unsure  RR

You could of course donate your body to the University of Malta! http://www.um.edu.mt/ms/anatomy/bequest

eddiepie

Hi. coxf0001. Great idea, just looked at this thread, will find out more later,(I could be a cut above the rest). Regards. Eddie.

Of corpse you will.

The term "dying to come over" now has a new meaning. Eddie.

the dead sea....

With reference to the cheaper public burial, epitaph could read "here I lie and here i  stay, cos the further in the more you pay" Eddie.

Some of you will be leaving behind very distressed partners desperately seeking information on the options they have.  Please stop behaving like giggling schoolchildren and give the topic serious discussion. :/  RR

Over my dead body!!

Oh and PS. We have already highlighted the serious issues and emphasised the need to consider this very serious subject.
In the meantime, there's always room for humour, even if some do find it childlike or make sarcastic comments.

Roger Rabat

I did say "some of you".

We already know that you have made your own plans but you omitted to tell us the date.  RR
