Hi,

Can someone guide me on the monthly expenditure (middle class standards) for a family of 3 (hus+wife+1 kid) considering:

1. A 1BD rented apartment OR Studio is also OK (in Sandton)
2. A rented car (mid size)
3. Schooling for a 4 year old child
4. Food expenses
5. Misc expenses (Electricity, Water, etc)
6. Telephone, Internet expense

I plan to relocate myself only in Nov-2014 and family will join me after 6 months. Please assist with your understanding/experience of this market.

Regards
Sunil

Hi Sunil
I can only comment on the accommodation and transport but here it is

1. A 1BD rented apartment OR Studio is also OK (in Sandton). You can budget for a R10 000 I think.

2. A rented car (mid size) : from R400 to R600 per day

4. Food expenses : really depends on where you shop and what you shop and how you live. The difference will be huge between shopping at Woolworhts and shopping in the Fordsburg markets for example.

6. Telephone, Internet expense :
Internet is very expensive in SA. You can count from R500 to R1000 for a DSL line uncapped.
Telephone is also for a contract around R500 per month. Depends on your needs.

Cheers,
Helder
