Recycling a Pertamina Barrel for Recycling !

Post new topic

BaliRadar

Dear Bali Expat.com Community,

Recycling Quest in Bali,

In response to our last topic entitled ''  Why not recycling empty plastic bottles in Bali ? '' here's more ;

After some research and thinking, we decided to buy an empty Pertamina Barrel ( Rp. 90,000 ) and transform it in a Recycle Bin with hole on the top and handles on each side ( Rp. 100,000 for the workshop and shipping).

We thought, why not using a material containing one of the most polluted resource (petroleum) to recycle it for then collecting empty bottles ?

We wanted to give the barrel a good looking so we bought 3 spray paint cans ( Rp. 24 000 each ) and for the final touch we want to buy the stickers to announce clearly that is a recycle bin.

Total of the cost approximately : 90,000 + 100,000+ 24,000 X 3 + (Stickers) = Rp. 262 000 for a solid recycled barrel for recycling.

Here's the pictures that confirm our approach :)
*We just applied the first layer of paint.

We would be happy to have your opinions or recommendations!

Kind Regards,

No offense, but I'm rather partial to our own re-cycling stations:

Dear Ubudian,

Thank you for sharing the picture.

Ubudian

The problem with using old oil drums is that unless they are kept under a roof, it won't be but a couple of years or so in our climate before the re-cycling barrel looks like it's ready to be re-cycled itself.  Things rust here in a heart beat.

Cheers and good luck with your projects.
