Financing property in Bali?

Post new topic

Hi everyone, my wife and I live and work in Darwin and are looking to lease a villa in Bali to live in when we retire (about 5 years away) we would like to rent the villa for most of the year until then. Can anyone lead us down the right path to get finance, we have enough money for a good deposit but have been told by my wonderful bank ANZ that they won't lend us money for property in Bali. With all the Australians living there, hopefully one of you can help.

While I suppose it isn't impossible, in 17 years I've never heard of one foreigner getting financing to lease a property in Bali.

I wish I had better news for you.

That's very sad, so everyone has to have the whole amount in their pocket. My wife will be crushed. But thanks for the truth.

Your alternative is to look for shorter time leases.  You might have to move about Bali ever couple of years if unable to extend, but hey...at least you'd still be in Bali!   :)

Short term leasing is harder to find, but they are around.
