Moving to Malta in 2011

Post new topic

Bocaraton1

Hello,
My husband and I are thinking of Moving to Malta by the summer 2011.
We are both in the hospitality industry where my husband is a Restaurant Manager and I am a also in the Hotel businesss but the Front Desk operations with  2 years experience in online gaming industry.
I am wondering how difficult it is to find a job in Malta and how much they pay?
Is there good transportation system in Malta? As I do not know if we can afford a car.
How is the safety and nurseries in Malta as I have a 1 year old who by that time would need to go to a nursery.
Thank you in advance,
Liv

Hi there

Partial answer.

There is a fairly recent salary survey for Malta, from an employment agency, at http://www.reedglobal.com.mt/__assets/asset421.pdf .  In general, I believe Malta is regarded as a fairly low-paying economy.  Probably not a place to get rich by working.

Public transport?  There is a bus network.  It's fairly comprehensive, though a bit "cheap and cheerful".  Some people criticise the age of the buses and the courtesy of the drivers.  But it more or less works.  A reform programme is in hand, and we wait to see the outcome.

Hopefully others will say more.

All good wishes

Hi there,

Malta is very nice. You will definitevely find a work placement and hotels are in continious need of new jobs and staff.. prices are relatively good, considering our standard of living is low compared to other countries.... o crimes, nice villages, lots of History, beautifull beaches! what's more?! ... come here and you'll enjoy it!
