I see this is very right with Vietnamese women who live in Vietnam . They are very strict with other women, but they pamper their men. That's why... there are many immature/naughty/child-men here . Sorry some mature men .
"A study published in the journal, Psychological Science, concluded that women tend to form a negative view of other women to include friends, co-workers, and, of course, bosses more quickly than men do of other men."
And this is difference about female bosses and male bosses. Honestly, I always like to make friends/work with men than women. And my female friends often are strong women (like me ).
"In 2010, CNN published an article from Author BJ Gallagher, on How to Tell a Male Boss from a Female Boss.
Here’s the difference:
-- A male boss is aggressive; a female boss is pushy.
-- A male boss is attentive to details; a female boss is picky.
-- He knows how to follow through; she doesn't know when to quit.
-- He's ambitious; she's driven.
-- He loses his temper occasionally; she can't control her emotions.
-- He isn't afraid to say what he thinks; she's mouthy.
-- He's a man of action; she's impulsive.
-- He controls his emotions; she's cold.
-- He thinks before he acts; she can't make up her mind.
-- He thinks before he speaks; she second-guesses herself.
-- He tells it like it is; she's tactless."

My only experience with a female boss was many years ago, unfortunately she was young, and the other female workers were the same age as her, so naturally they were " friends ", so a lot of favoritism was shown to them.
But going by your list of comparisons, who would ever employ a Female as a boss? It sounds like it was written by someone with a bone to pick with their own Female boss.
Sometimes teacher like a boss . When I was a student, I liked to study with male teachers than female ones
Just want to know many thoughts about female bosses. I really want to learn from other's experience to make myself better.
I've worked for female bosses before. Hardly any difference other than they are more organized and can see through male bullsh*t more quickly than male bosses.
They are better at multi-tasking, better at organizing and excel at many other things.
Take no notice of CNN - it's a garbage American news entertainment channel. The list above simply highlights how similar characteristics differ when describing a male or female. It appears to be an attempt at humour.
It's important that female bosses assert their position and don't let males, of equal or lesser rank, treat the female as potential dating/bed material. Showing emotion is not a weakness.
One good thing about VietNam is the equality of opportunities it offers for both male and female. Many Western countries still define jobs through sex, such as "That's not a job for a woman".
Women lack few attributes that men have (such as body strength) but have many more attributes that men don't usually have.

IMHO the article seems to be written from a males sexist point of view. And from the title of the article (admittedly I did not read the article and it may say all of these comparison tongue in cheek) it would appear that the characteristics are identical except for the word chosen to describe the characteristic.
I had a woman Director of my division a few years ago and she was a damn good boss unlike some men I've worked under. She had to fight everyday to be heard because she was a bit passive in her dealings with the other Directors. We were talking one day about her frustration in dealing with some of the self serving guys (note I did not say men, there is a distinct difference). I half jokingly suggested that she "grow some nads" so the boys knew to take her serious. Well, she did and she soon gained respect from most of the other Directors.
The moral of the story is that an effective leader does not need a sausage to be good at what they do and using a less sexist tone to describe management styles better serves to enlighten the Neanderthal mindset and encourage those people bright enough to succeed to push through to their potential.
As an aside, there was an interesting clip going around facebook the past few days about Little Princesses dropping the F-bomb. It is worth the view. I'd post the link here, but figured it would get moded

"In 2010, CNN published an article from Author BJ Gallagher, on How to Tell a Male Boss from a Female Boss. CNN is not a factual source of news.Quite often it is filtered to promote only a certain view and it's journalism is mostly 'cut and paste' from other sources.

-- He isn't afraid to say what he thinks; she's mouthy. It's not wise for anyone these days to say what they think. That can lead to lawsuits.
-- He's a man of action; she's impulsive. Impulsive???Is she shopping or something?
-- He controls his emotions; she's cold. Both can and are cold at times.
-- He thinks before he acts; she can't make up her mind.A female boss has to always make up her mind. That's why she's a boss and not a worker.
-- He thinks before he speaks; she second-guesses herself.Again,if she second guesses everything, how did she get the high position?????
-- He tells it like it is; she's tactless. Again speak your mind with caution when your in upper management."

What?, they have a brand of Brassiere called Triumph? Or did you think it was a Triumph OVER women?
bluenz wrote:What?, they have a brand of Brassiere called Triumph? Or did you think it was a Triumph OVER women?
Yes . Here: http://www.triumph.com/vn/vi/index.html
Well my very first boss in my life was a Vietnamese female. She was a very young and competent manager, professional in work but so caring in daily life. She treated me just like she is my older sister. That would be the most difference compared to a male boss I think. Beside work, she shared with me lots of other advices and stuffs which I do believe a male boss could hardly do. She considered me as her brother and we still maintain this good relationship until now.
I also used to work with a foreign female supervisor for a 4-year project. She's much older than me and she came from Europe. Again, she is kind of a caring person and very professional. We found no problem at all working together as well as continuing the close relationship as of today.
So, two cases - a local and a foreigner, what I could personally say about female boss is that, as long as they are competent and professional enough, you will be happy to work with them. And things would be much more favourable if you are a good male . But remember, "birds of a feather flock together". Don't require kindness and respect from others if you failed to show that to them

Ouch, that is sacrilege, using the Triumph name like that, but then again, I'm sure many a man was happy with his Triumph helping him pick up a few Bra wearing passengers.
These pictures of motorcycles are usually off subject, burn up server time and slow down page displays.
At least, if you must post these things, crop the pictures, and reduce them to web compatible. Use Irfan.

Obviously not a M/b fan ay Jim? Next thing he will want EVERY single post deleted that isn't on topic, thank god he's not a Mod, this site would have no members very fast. We need more members with a sense of humour.

My words in this thread or other threads stay on the topic.(Except this post)
The motorcycle images I post are not a subject. They are an image.
Non pornographic, non offensive and well within the guidelines of imagery requirements for this forum.
What is being burnt and how does this cost you financially?
My laptop seems to be load this page just as fast with/without images. In fact,I find members avatars take longer to load up than my pics.
I copy the URL of image and put it in the 'image link' section of the reply post.
If I am required to modify any image I post, then it's not a copy of the image I want to put up.
I have no problems with a female boss.. as long as they're pretty and don't worry their little heads about what I do.
I will now hide behind the nearest sofa.

Wow, sounds like the BOSS has spoken????
well, i think in our country, we dont " wow! " when a girl shows up as a boss. I dont know about what u guys think Its not questionable enough to question it. Maybe I'm just 22 and have no that much experience dealing with female boss
yenhoang wrote:well, i think in our country, we dont " wow! " when a girl shows up as a boss. I dont know about what u guys think Its not questionable enough to question it. Maybe I'm just 22 and have no that much experience dealing with female boss
No, you would salute your boss in VN, wouldn't you?
In my country, a girl doesn't just " show " up as a boss. Everyone knows who the boss is.
Three girls all worked in the same office with the same female boss. Each day, they noticed the boss left work early. One day the girls decided that, when the boss left, they would leave right behind her. After all, she never called or came back to work, so how would she know they went home early?
The brunette was thrilled to be home early. She did a little gardening, spent playtime with her son and went to bed early.
The redhead was elated to be able to get in a quick workout at the spa before meeting a dinner date.
The blonde was happy to get home early and surprise her husband, but when she got to her bedroom, she heard a muffled noise from inside.
Slowly and quietly, she cracked open the door and was mortified to see her husband in bed with her lady boss.
Gently, she closed the door and crept out of her house.
The next day, at their coffee break, the brunette and redhead planned to leave early again and they asked the blonde if she was going to go with them.
“No way,” the blonde exclaimed. “I almost got caught yesterday.”
How To Dress For Success If Your Boss Is A Woman
January 02, 1987|By Carol Towarnicky, Knight-Ridder Newspapers.
If you`re a woman who works for a woman, never outdress your boss.
If you`re a man who works for a woman, never make jokes about women drivers.
If your woman boss is younger, don`t treat her like a kid. She probably feels uncomfortable about the age difference, too. Reminding her of it isn't going to do you any good at all.
If your woman boss is older, be careful not to suggest you are more
``with it.`` Listen patiently when she talks about World War II. Do not
--repeat, do not--tell her that World War II ended before you were born.
Gender has nothing to do with whether a boss is ``bad`` or ``good,`` says Jo Foxworth, who is a boss, herself--president of her own advertising agency. Both the best boss and the worst boss Foxworth ever had were women.
``But when I`ve had bosses that were good or bad,`` she said, ``I`ve never thought they were good or bad because they were men or women, but because of the kind of men or women they had become.
``Usually, when a woman is a bad boss, it`s because she feels in some way threatened by the fact that she is female. She is afraid that somebody is not going to respect her authority, or that somebody is going to think that she doesn`t know as much as a man would in that job. And she tends to be a little sensitive about it.``
We don`t have a lot of practice working for women, and it`s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that all women bosses act alike. And to treat them alike. That way lies disaster, says Foxworth.
Foxworth`s new book, ``Boss Lady`s Arrival and Survival Plan`` (Warner Books, $16.95) offers several tips about working for women:
-- If you`re a woman working for a woman, leave your designer clothes at home. Looking better than your boss will end in grief.
-- Never buy an article of clothing identical to something in your boss`s wardrobe. If she has a color that is ``hers,`` don`t you wear it.
-- If your boss is a working mother, try not to bring her important business at 5 p.m. It`s around that time that she has just realized she doesn`t have anything for dinner.
-- Some men are nervous about working for women. They`re flirting with unemployment if they make jokes about it, though. Women bosses, says Foxworth, are particularly sensitive to jokes about women: Men will laugh at jokes about other men, but women aren`t amused by jokes about women.
-- Many men worry about whether to observe the traditional
``gallantries.`` Go ahead, says Foxworth, and ignore any rejection:
-- Stand when she enters the room. If she looks displeased, pretend you were standing to adjust a window blind.
-- Shake hands. As Foxworth says, it indicates an equality that neither of you may feel, but never mind. Just do it.
-- Find out what she likes to be called. If she`s over 30, never call her MaDAME, simply because she`ll think you`re calling attention to her age. (And don`t call her MADam. She`ll think you`re referring to a former profession.)
-- Don`t go on and on about how great she looks in the outfit she`s wearing. She might think that, on other days, you think she looks a mess.
-- Don`t try to order for her in a restaurant. When the waiter hands you the check (and he will) take it cheerfully, even if she invited you. She`ll ask you to give it to her.
-- Don`t look scandalized if she uses vulgar language. These days, you don`t have to spend a lot of time around locker rooms to learn it.
-- ``And when she wears a pantsuit, says Foxworth, ``never under any circumstances tell her that her fly is open, particularly if it is. She`ll discover it sooner or later, and maybe think you didn't notice.``
Has much changed since 1987?

I don't know if I understood this right or not? But in Vietnamese, in some funy stories, the blond girl is named "cô gái tóc vàng hoe". They are always like stupid/silly girl. Is it right?

Yes, it's just stereotyping, probably 50% of blondes are not really blonde anyway, you only need to look at the roots of their hair, to see if their hair has been dyed. ( if a man is really lucky, pubic hair is a bit of a give away ).
It's the same with the Irish, many many jokes about dumb Irishmen, but I've actually heard of a couple who weren't completely stupid.
Did no one consider that perhaps the original article was intended to be tongue-in-cheek?
It seems that all the characteristics attributed to males and females are the same, just viewed from different perspectives...
Haha, Blue, I did the same that girl many times in my office, in my house. Because I am quite cleaned. But I am sure I am not stupid like that . But thanks anyway
I must work from 7am to 7pm today (6 periods in morning, 3 exams in afternoon). I can only read, can not write more.

Yours must be a more modern type house?, most have never heard of 'S' traps, etc. My wife's new house doesn't even have them, ( I tried to keep well away from they were " building ", they don't take kindly to " no F all " Foreigners giving them advice , or showing them an easy, faster ( and more accurate ),way, to do something. But you couldn't expect much more when the " electrician " is also the " plumber ", ( and now security guard at an industrial estate ).
My old house's builded for 15 years ago, I don't think it's modern... I tried to image what is S trap in that picture , because I didn't really understand S, F in your comment.
BTW, I can do many things that men do. When I was a child (13 years old), I could drive motobike (even my mother couldn't), I always helped my father do business, I cooked for workers, and did some jobs like workers too (just liked to do). That's time I was a "naughty" girl, always was curious about everything around me . I broke/repaired something like TV, calculator... because I was very curious . Fortunely, my dad always was understanding, so he was never angry when I broke something .
I live alone much time in my life, so I always try to do everything by myselft. If there is a man, I will ask him help, but if he isn't willing to help, its ok because I can do by myself.

Hope your house was built better than my wife's old house, as with most of them in her street , only 12 -13 years old, most had new roofs, and many big cracks in the walls, they looked 100 yrs old
Think of S bend, with the drain plug in the bottom.
F all, is the shortened versions of a swear word in English. it means , i.e, if I'd know F all, then I know nothing.
13 yrs, you are a teenager, ( but I see the " teenagers " in my classes only look 11- 12 yrs old???, must be that VN birth date thing? )
I learned to ride a m/b, ( with clutch, 10 gears, high and low ), at 7-8 yrs old, possibly would have earned earlier if they had been invented, ( no I'm not that old, my friends farm never had a m/b until we were that age, then we taught each other to ride it , still have the scars to prove it )..
I had a brother who was always puling things apart to see how they worked, unfortunately , most of the time he couldn't put them back together again, I'm the opposite, there is a saying," if it ain't broke, don't fix it, " common sense really..
bluenz wrote:13 yrs, you are a teenager, ( but I see the " teenagers " in my classes only look 11- 12 yrs old???, must be that VN birth date thing? )
Yeah, I was taller than the same age ones. At that time, when I was driving in the street, a police looked at me, I was very scary . But after that, I think I looked very talled, why I must worry . I didn't have any problems with polices then
Today I felt tired because last night I slept 4 hours only. And tried to help my brother do business too, felt sleepy, can't open my eyes. These day I was very lazy to learn English. Really want to sleep soon, but I've just receiveed a email, about the plan in the near future, to be welcome some Professors from other countries. So now I must study English much harder . When I tried to discuss something with you, I always try to think by English, and learn so much. My study will never stop, hic hic

I found out the hard way, that VN is not the place for light sleepers, no matter where you live, anywhere near a river, the sea, or a road, I will be woken by a m/b , boat, train, rooster, dog, people yelling, usually about every 2 hours, then I have trouble getting back to sleep.
My ideal bedroom would have to be an underground bunker, but not possible most places due to the low water tables.
Ha ha, me too. After moving out, I've had many problems with my sleep. Because this room is "phòng trọ", near many students. They sometimes sing/talk too loud; sometimes they drink and sleep late; sometimes they wake up very early, turn on laptop and listen to music; even weekends, I always go to my office to work if I don't have any classes.
Some months ago, I was really sad when I knew I couldn't build the house in this year (because of some reasons). So when some neighbors make noise, I will wear a headphone to listen to English. My own land is in Binh Duong, it's quite far Saigon, but it's very nice and quiet, and many trees around it. I am trying to earn money, and build a house in next year. Can't be patient and want to be crazy with noisy people .

Your office might be the best place to sleep.
I've recently moved, now a neighbour has their a/con going all night???? it's been raining every night, big temp drop, and they still have it on, no wonder their kids are always sick?
I used to use a fan to try and drown out some noises, a constant hum/drone is no problem for me, but lately it has been too cold for the fan at night, I tried to buy a radio today, one that you could tune slightly off station, so you get a hum, but all the radio/stereo's I saw were all auto tune or something?
