dry cleaning - for silk and cashmere cloth

Hi All

in Thailand, some unscrupulous shops would just charge the x times higher price, then wash the garments with water. As that would ruin some cashmere item, do you have some tips on identifying a business which does deliver?

How much are you paying for say 10 shirts, 5 pants and 5 jackets?

If necessary, I'll pay to have them cleaned in Hanoi.

Cheers,
Chris

Because of the clothing materials in VN, many don't need dry cleaning.

Also, dry cleaning facilities are generally in sizeable towns and cities. Cleaning/contract factories usually have a dry cleaning specialist. In Buon Ma Thuot, approximately 1,000,000 population, we have only ONE dry-cleaner and one contract laundry - they clean the hotel sheets for us. Our Cam Ranh Bay hotel uses a contract laundry in Nha Trang, where there are several.

Seek out the dry cleaning operator, not an agent, and request they use ONLY CLEAN DRY-CLEANING FLUID. Since VNese cleaners don't change their fluids every day, from my experience, you might have to wait a few days until they do dump their dirty cleaning fluid (usually straight down the drains).

An up-scale Ao Dai store in your community will most likely be able to advise you on trustworthy dry cleaners. Only those cleaners in larger population centres can be trusted.

You should update your profile so we know what part of VN you are in.
