I have some photographic lighting equipment and personal effects I want shipped from Australia (Mackay, QLD) to HCMC.  They are packed in a travel bag roughly 1m x 300mm x 400mm and total weight about 15kg.

What would be the best and safest way to ship them?  Any suggestions / experiences?

You will be hit with Duty by VN Customs at a rate the see fit. Often 100%.

Best us to find someone who can sling it in their baggage if they are coming here.

Given it's weight check out the Post Office for surface rates and over insure it + register - they take good care of insured/registered.

Have it sent to you (with your cell number after your name)

if you are on a budget i would recommend australian post economy...takes 5 weeks though or express air.
if you got money , go dhl.

Hi, the cheapest and safest way is asking someone who is going to fly to vietnam to help you. They will pay $50 for 20kg overweight

If you contact any shipping companies, they can ask $15/kg.

Yes. That's why the procedure really takes a long time to complete.
