Hi all

We are moving to Malaysia late Dec and have a 12 year old son

We are tossing up between aust. Int school and Alice smith

Depending on school will depend on where we will live. AIS will live around mines resort area and Alice Smith will living around Bandar Kinrara area.

Any tips or advise on which school will be best for 12 year old Aussie kid?

Thanks Dave

Because AIS will offer a continuation of the same curriculum (if you son has been in the national school system in Oz) if would provide continuity. However, the educational standards at Alice Smith are second to none and it is a very academic environment. So depending on your son's state of development and your future plans to return to Oz, which one would be more suitable for him. Personally, I think he may suffer a bit of culture shock initially by attending Alice Smith.

AIS is the best for you as relaxed Aussie school atmosphere. On an academic note considering the intake you could say Alice doesn't do so well with igcse scores - many schools do better that are not as selective. But the curriculum arguments wins hands down here. Unless you plan to be out of Australia for next 6 years and prefer a British style education and a plum in the mouth accent ;)
