Hi Friends,

Please guide me on current situation in Oman. How safe is the for Indian ladies and the job opportunities :) . Let me know how comfortable we can stay with family.

Hi vijaya22582,

I would say Oman is far safer for Indian women than Indian is !! However, there could be some incidents, which most certainly are few and far between. Omanis traditionally revere women and respect them. It's a cultural thing. Also Islam allows for only minimal interactions between both the sexes and children from as early as 10 years of age are not allowed to be in each others' presence without adult supervision. These days the local youth are a bit brash and perhaps even rude, but these are largely isolated incidents. Well, I could go on and on about it, but the crux of the matter is most expat women will be far safer here in Oman than they will be in their home countries.

About your second question, expat women are currently disallowed from working. This ban has been in effect since January of this year and is likely to continue for the near future. Like in any rule, exceptions are of course there.

Oman is one of the best countries for living a high quality life with family. It is very peaceful, quiet, less of stress and more of relaxation. I would love to go on further but have tons of work to do ...

Good luck.

Hello Vijaya
Oman is a beautiful country, not only from its scenic beauty but also from the safety and security point of view.  If you are on your Husband's employer's visa, you could probably first arrive in Muscat/Oman and then look out for a suitable job.  It all depends on your qualification and experience; only when a company/institution has vacancies they will call you for interviews and depending on how you perform, you will get the right opportunity.
Wishing you the best
Regards
