Salary expectation in Saudi

Hi all,

Can someone please give me a guide as to what I should expect in terms of salary in Saudi? I am from the UK with 13 years of experience in Risk and Project Management. I earn an average of £500 per say as a consultant. A potential client in Jeddah, through an agency in the UK is supposedly offering me £50,000 per annum, tax free of course but with no other benefits, i.e. accommodation, transport etc. I would have to fed for myself. I asked for £100,000. The role is an IT Risk Evaluation consultant for 2 years. What do you guys think?

I have a feeling the guy at the agency here is trying to make some money off me though.

I would value your candid suggestions.

Regards,

Chiz

Hi Chiz, and welcome to the forum.

From my humble experience, it's a very high salary that they offered you there. If they agreed on £100,000 per a year, it would be almost as the same salary as a Saudi minister's. However, you really should be careful about this offer, skies never rain gold, you know!

Best wishes.

If it's a non-private position, from my experience there usually isn't much room for negotiation.  The IMPORTANT thing (and you know this already if you're read the various threads pertaining to accepting employment in Saudia) is to get everything in writing before you come (which increases, not guarantees, your chances of getting what you'd agreed to )

Someone once mentioned take whatever your salary is back home and add %50. That formula sounds good to me and is relevant to others I work with.
Be prepared to get jerked around on your contract possibly even if its in writing.
