We invite you to talk about the cost of living in Sri Lanka in 2015, with an updated price listing.
Don't forget to mention in which city of Sri Lanka you are living in.
How much does it cost to live in Sri Lanka?

I was born and lived in Sri Lanka up to the age of 23, when i left the country, and made my way to live in Canada. I Lived in Toronto for about 14years.
i have now come back to Sri Lanka, i have been here for the last 16 months.
I am comfortable with the way of life here
and would like to advise people visiting Sri Lanka for the first time.
to come here with an open mind and do not expect things to go exactly as planned.
keep flexibility for change in travel and other plans
Country is great.
it offers climates from 5 to 25 celsius in the mountains and 25 to 30 celsius in other areas
being a large island, you have the lovely beach all around, with lots of things to do.
Cost of living
Colombo ( just outside ) 1 to 2 bed room apartment Rs 20000.00 US$ 150.00 to 180.00
public transport : would be one of the cheapest 100km journey by train (regular )Rs.130.00 or US$ 1.00 to 2.00
by Bus US$ 2.00 to 4.00
short trips 10km to the City by Train Rs 15.00 US$ 0.10 to 0.15
by bus US$ 0.20 to 0.25
Food: this could based on what you want
local food at regular restaurant where local eat Lunch rice and vegitable and meat Rs 120.00 US$ 1.00
high end restaurant can cost US$ 5.00 to 30.00 average
the options are there so you can choose base on your budget and palet
note: that most places where locals eat cater to their spicy palet, the food may be hot for people who are not used to spicy food,

medical,
regular doctors visit US$ 3.00
test blood / other US$ 10.00 to 50.00 ( average)
medication: US$ 5.00 to 15.00 average

electricity US$ 30.00
if you use an air conditioner regularly US$ 100.00 to 150.00

Cell: US$ 10.00, plus usage about US$ 0.02/pr minute
