Plastic Surgery/Cosmetic Dentistry in Ecuador

Post new topic

languagetraveler

Does anyone here have any knowledge or recommendations for plastic surgeons or cosmetic dentists in Ecuador? When we visited, we saw what appeared to be 2 tourists at the Otavalo market who clearly just had a nose job (bandages still in place). I'd be curious about any reviews or insight on costs as compared to the US.

Hi languagetraveler,

Your topic is now on the Ecuador forum for more visibility.

Medical tourism or offshore elective medical exists almost everywhere, although if there ever was an area in which the axiom "let the buyer beware" applies it is here.  Research the doctor and the hospital with whom he or she is affiliated, find out whether they have professional certifications of repute (verses some silly self-created designation given themselves).

I found this table comparing costs for various medical procedures:

My impression (and perhaps only mine) is that Panama and Colombia would likely have better options overall.  Many choose Panama specifically for Hosptial Punta Pacifica (in Panama City).  This facility is affiliated with the world renowned Johns Hopkins Medical Center.
