Arriving in one week

Post new topic

Hi Everybody,

I will be arriving in one week and I am trying to prepare as much as possible. I am hoping you can help me.

The first question is: Is it going to possible to get an internet connection as soon as we arrive or will we have to wait for  the Iqama Card?

Can purchase a sim card for our telephones as soon as we arrive?

We are going to arrive on the 6th of September. We are worried about being able to get around since it is the end of Ramadan. Will it be easy to get a taxi? We will be in the DQ.

Thanks everybody for all your help.

Wow!  Invasion of the Italians!!

Welcome to Saudia, Signor.  You can purchase a sim as soon as you arrive if it's prepaid, I know this.  Also, no problem with taxis since most are driven by expats from India, Sudan, etc., not Saudis.

About the internet, I belive you don't need one if you go with a mobily 'stick' but of course I could be wrong.  Others know more about it than I do--I had to get my connection through my company.

Yeah, there have been a lot of Italians coming to Saudi lately! There must be a huge project by an Italian company taking off somewhere in Saudi ... Anyway, welcome to the forum, Signor!

Thank you very much for your help. Its really nice to feel welcomed. My Husband and I are teachers who will be teaching in an international school. We will be new to Riyadh and can use all the help we can get. I can thank you with a plate of Spaghetti ;):)

Me too, I love Italians and their food! Hehehe. Recently spent 2 months in Rome and I must have gained a million pounds! :D

Signora, my husband works with a lot of Italians. We are in Jubail, so if ever you are in the area, give me a holler ;) Good luck with the move to Saudia.

Welcome Signor,
Just thinking of our next meal in Scalini's the Italian resturant in the DQ if we take our latest bloggers they will turn out the best dishes.:lol::lol::lol:
I'll have to invite you round to my place too to get some tips on cooking, plenty of herbs and garlic. Yum.
My mouth is watering at the thought.
