Hi everybody,

I have been working in Stuttgart as a mini-jobber for about a year. All I know is I have a payroll every month with no specifications or remarks of any insurances on it.

1)Does anyone know if I am in any coverage by the pension insurance system (or unemployment insurance) in Germany????

2) If no, how can I be????

Thank you very much for your kindly advice.

Mini-Jobs were created specifically for NOT being in those two insurances.
If you are in a Mini-Job and not otherwise health-insured, you also need to pay the full health insurance premium yourself, without the usual 50% contribution by the employer.
You can (and have to) join retirement, unemployment and health insurance if you earn above €450/month - it's then called Midi-Job - but below that you are not eligible.

Hello, beppi.

Thank you very much for your reply  :D

1) My husband has a full-time job.
Have my husband 's contributions been already covering me?

2) One of my bosses changed my salary once (I guess it is a "Midi" job) but another boss stopped him because she disliked my "Class 5" (????) that's why I am still a mini-jobber.
Is it more difficult for me, a wife, to seek a job that has insurance coverage (such as a part-time or a Midi) as bosses hate paying heavy contributions????

Thank you very much  :proud

You can be covered by his health insurance (gesetzlicheKrankenversicherung, not the private kind!) while doing a Mini-Job (this is the constellation Mini-Jobs were introduced for), but not retirement or unemployment insurance.

Ms Immanuel

Thank you very much, beppi :)
Have a nice weekend :proud
