I am after some serious guidance. my step son (uk national) is seriously thinking about joining me out here. he is worried if he gets a job here but then loses it (redundancy etc) would he get any financial assistance while looking for another one. I am sure there are rules about how many years NI you must pay first but I was hoping someone could advise me. Many thanks

thanks I assume that applies to EU citizens once you have had a job.

you will only get unemployment benefit after 50 weeks working.....
