Best place to live in Malta? any recommendation of a good realtor

I am moving to Malta with my husband and 7 year old son in a few weeks time. My husband will be working Silema and we are looking at putting my son into Verdala (British International School)
I have never visited Malta and do not know anyone on the Island and I am therefore looking for any help you can provide in terms of advise for best areas to Iive for families as well as the best places for British kids to go to school. We do not want to be right in the centre of the capital but do want to be within walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also we have a dog and I was wondering if it is difficult to find real accommodation that will accept pets?
Do you have any recommendations for a good realtor? Should I stick to one realtor or will i need to use several to see what is on the market?

Thank you in advance!

Oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaase do look at what information is already here!
I do not mean to be rude but there is already so much info here that if you read it all first and then ask specific questions we would be better placed to try to help.
Also, a lot of the answers you seek will be subjective opinions.
Only you will decide best area, best school etc. etc.
Has your husband ever been here previously?
What nationality is he?

I suspect that you are in for a bit of a culture shock.
Also, if you read more on here you will see that the general advice is to avoid housing agents if you can and the reasons why. However, if you have not visited before and moving so quickly, you will, in all likelihood, have to.

Hi Redmik,
I'm considering moving to Malta, I read your post and it's been very informative but I still feel a bit overwhelmed and I think there's much more to consider.
First of all at the moment I'm in kind of a "limbo" as I live in London since 5 years but I've never registered for the AIRE (Italians residents abroad) so technically I'm still an Italian resident but I'm employed in the UK therefore I pay NIN and Income Tax.
- How would the legislation you mentioned above apply to me?
- Would I be entitled to the RHA?
- Should I pay an Income Tax (income arising abroad but received in Malta) in Malta as well?

A more pratical question, as I have some stuff to take with me I was thinking to buy a car here, how would it work? Shall I register it in Malta and get a new insurance there?

What else should I consider?

Thanks for your help
