Even though we have just arrived in February 2015 the top five tips so far:

- Learn as much Spanish as possible in advance
- Establish a good relationship with your lawyer, notary and accountant before moving to Uruguay
- Pack the things that are important to you for your daily life in your sea freight
- Take the same approach to adjust to Uruguay as for previous experiences living abroad: Every place has its advantages and disadvantages
- Yes, it is true the Uruguayans are that nice! But don't forget common sense!

1. Friends.
2. An occupation - commercial or otherwise.

If you can accomplish those, you are well on your way.

The best and only one would be to visit the country for a long period and familiarize yourself with the laws, people and living conditions and see if they meet your requirements. Don't make a decision based on rosy comments by some posters. There is no paradise anywhere there are better and not so better places is up to you to determine which one meets your desires and taste.
