So without getting too political who's voting tomorrow did you all collect your voting cards and/or get them when they delivered them ?

My landlord gave us mine he's a policeman so that's nice he's also given me a sample voting paper  with his suggestions of whom I should vote for ,

They use the stv system here so should be interesting to see

Hi

The police delivered voting cards to us a couple of weeks ago but I've  no idea what to do with them or where we go to vote in our area so i guess i will sit this one out.

lol i know if it wasnt for my landlord i would have no clue where to go but in marsaxlokk its at the local school
its fairly simple stv you order in number of preference who you want

Your thread prompted me to take a proper look at my voting card and it actually says where to vote on it, doh!  I'm  so used to everything being complicated here that i sometimes forget to look for the obvious  :)

I see your posts on here quite often, I've been here for almost ten months now with my husband and 2 kids,  I've made a couple of friends but still gets a bit lonely, especially for a sociable person like me.

How do you find it being here? Does it get easier?

lol he said these were the ones that would be best for us to vote for thing is i dont like being told who i should vote for i like to make my own mind up

i think he genuinly thinks hes helping and i suppose at least he thinks im capable enough to make my own mind up on a yes/no question lol

Toon

How would he know whats best for you as a non maltese

Most non maltese are subject to things they nothing about

I can't believe that the government pays for Maltese expats abroad to come back for the weekend to vote in local elections. I mean WTF?? How does it affect them?? It's a great chance to come back to see the family for the weekend on a state-sponsored €60 return flight though. Bonkers.

Toon

Maybe we should ask Camo and crew for the the UK to do that....lol

its a disgrace that taxpayers cash is being used to fund this for people who spend most / all of their time out of the country not even contributing to the maltese economy.... but then i suppose there are many more issues that many expats who live permanently in Malta abuse in their respective home countries

On An Island

If Cameron pledged that, I would vote for him. I'm cheap and easy though.

A Scotsman voting Tory, not many of them to the pound.  :D

Toon

even a scottish pound...lol

robpw2

the sad fact is that most of those who got the cheap flights missed the deadline to collect their voting cards so its been a huge waste of money .

Do we still issue pound notes?? I haven't seen one for ages.

Try buying a pint of lager in a London pub with some of those.

Yeah I read that, what a farce.

It would be a huge waste of money even if they were able to vote though.

Toon

not unusual for a huge waste of money to be incurred just about anywhere in the world where elections take place.

But am guessing in Thailand where there are a lot elections  - i guess those with them dont consider ti a waste of their money LOL
