If your son was born in Brazil he is a Brazilian citizen,  you will need to show his birth certificate at a consulate to get him a passport

From there you get permanent residency and come and live in Brazil for a least a year, but it will probably take you longer to integrate into society here, which is what they want to see.

Then you can try to get citizenship and pass it on to the other kids

Muito Obrigado for posting this AfroPrince.  Have you started your application process yet, do you already have your RNE?  Which city will you apply in?  Sadly I think each Federal Policia office handles the cases differently.  Perhaps there will be more standards with what you have posted.  Getting my RNE was pretty smooth and easy so here's hoping for the best.  Sadly there just is not much information posted on the Internet for recent applications or even past applications.  From reading other forums, past applicants took 2 years or longer.  Accountants also assist lawyers with Visas, passports, and even naturalization applications.  We all would be happy to hear from you and perhaps even do business in seeking your assistance.

Desculpa a demorar chicagoan77,
Yes have RNE and applied last year - Im in RJ.  No one has asked for a language test which is surpising, but that still may come up..  At the moment no movement so I may contact them to see if there is anything pending from my side bearing in mind the recent law changes..

Does anyone know what to expect during the home visit? i.e. questions etc.  Would just like to prepare myself for anything unexpected!  Anyone experience shared is appreciated.

stevefunk

For my home visit they just came in saw my wife and I , spoke light conversation for 1 min and left.

kashmiri199

those friends who applied naturalization process recently can you tell me after to submit case after how many month PF taking português test and when they are doing vist in home?

thanks

sakraan

It depends on the city where you applied. Sometimes it takes 3 months.

stevefunk

It took a month for mine

sakraan

Where can a candidate of naturalization ask for the details of his process of naturalization? The online process does not go farwards for a few months.

stevefunk

here this link
http://www.justica.gov.br/acesso-a-sist … -processos

here this link

Not sure I understand what you mean " The online process does not go forwards for a few months" ?

once your application is on the system it will say "Pendente" Pending with a list of documents.
a few months later After that it will go to "Aguardando inclucão na Portaria"
Waiting to be included in the portaria - at this point it is approved and awaiting publication

Hi Stevefunk,
I think Sakraan might mean that theres no movement or changes when looking online for progress at the above link - which is what I am getting also,  I'm thinking about calling or visiting in person to see what the latest is as I havent been contacted at all..

sakraan

It always shows like this message: Situação do Processo:
Requisito Atendido
From the fist day, it appears like it.

sakraan

Yes, it is my case from one year and half.  There is no movement in my case.

stevefunk

It has not been looked at in Brasilia yet.....they don't make any contact until it's done.
You could try contacting them.....mine took about a 10 months to get to the final stages
the woman at the local office said this was very quick

rasvi

I have permanent resident in brazil . I’m living here more then two years I have all requirements match to Apply Brazilian citizenship. May I know how long will take to get Brazilian citizenship and get Brazilian passport ?

sakraan

It depends on your case. Sometimes it takes 3 years.

sakraan

How did you make contact with them? Do you have their cell#?

rasvi

Celp-bras which level certificate need to qualify for brazilian citizenship ?

stanza51

You would require a minimum score of 2.00 and above in order to receive the Intermediate Level certificate

ChiChifort

pls i wanted to find out can someone living in Sao Paulo city apply for naturalization in Sao Paulo interior or you must apply at the Policia Federal in the city?

abthree

As a resident foreigner, you're required to report your address to the Federal Police within 30 days, every time you move.  Ask to apply at the office where you most recently registered your address; if you should apply somewhere else, they'll tell you.

stanza51

You can apply in branch of Policia Federal.  However most commonly it is better to apply in the branch that falls near your residence.

Specially citing the fact that majority of the PF officials might not want to accept the application from a different area as they are already overloaded.

rasvi

What are the documents you are submitting to get citizenship? Let us know. Do you do a portuguese test ? All info let us know

sakraan

For naturalization, you have to pass Celpe-Bras test of Portuguese.

rasvi

Self-bras which level need to be passed ?

stanza51

I have already replied back to this in my earlier posts, however please note that you require atleast 2.0 out of 5.0 in order to receive the CELPE-Bras certification.

Regards

rasvi

Ok once you have self-bras certificate no need to do test at PF ?

stanza51

Hi Rasvi

They have completely stopped taking the language test in PF and now the applicant must pass the CELPE Bras, and provide the certificate for Basic proficiency in Portuguese to the Policia Federal along with the rest of the required documents along with it.

Hope that helps and best of luck :)

Regards

Stanza

ChiChifort

I didn't know about reporting my address. If it's gone past 30 days what do I need to do?

ChiChifort

Does this taking of Celpe bras apply to every PF in every state now?

No big deal.  Just go to the Federal Police office that serves the area where you live, with your identity card and proof of residence (electric bill, internet bill, etc.), and tell them you want to register your address.  It just takes a few minutes - for me, the Uber ride was longer.  No need to mention that you're late.  If they notice, they may scold you a bit, but you won't be in trouble.
While you're there, you can ask about naturalization.

ChiChifort

Thanks for the reply will do that

philmoto85

Does the proof of residence have to be in my name or can it be in my spouses name? What are acceptable proofs. Is there a specific form the PF use? Thanks

sakraan

yes! absolutely!

abthree

Proof of residence can be in your spouse's name, if you show your Brazilian marriage certificate that includes both names.
A wide number of documents are accepted.  The most common are electric bills, because most people have them; that's what I've usually used.  Government agencies also accept telephone land line/Internet bills, other utility bills, signed leases for rented residences, and title deeds ("Escritura") for purchased residences.
There's no special form.  Bring a copy for them to keep if they want it, and the original, to inspect and return to you.  Ditto for the marriage certificate,  if the proof is in your spouse's name.

Hi anybody knows about visa requirement for Chile who holds a Brazilian permanent resident ? Can I go to Chile with my RNE permanent resident card without visa or carry passport ?

sakraan

I think Chile is not member state of Mecrosul agreement and your residence card would not be effective there but you may ask an expert of it.

rasvi

I asked CVC one time they said me no need but when I call today they said need to check with embassy

stanza51

A visa to CHILE is required, as Chile is not a member of the Mercosul.

stevefunk

Its an associate member , website states permanent residents of Brazil can enter on RNE card

Heres the Link http://www.brasil.gov.br/noticias/turis … sul-com-rg
"Mercosul com RG
Moradores dos países que integram o Mercado Comum do Sul podem viajar sem passaporte, apenas com documentos de identificação"
Translated : Residents of countries intergrated in mercado comum do sul can travel without passport, only with ID document. Oficial Brazil gov site and it lists all countries including chile

Clearly states the travel documents a Brazilian can use for the listed countries
Chile on the list and  Cédula de Identidade de Estrangeiro expedida pela Polícia Federal
is a recognised document.

I travelled with a chinese guy to Argentina and he entered with just a Brazil temporary residence card
with passport he would have required a visa

I've also travelled to colombia who are also not a full mercosul member using only RNE card,
They never questioned my nationality, you are treated as a mercosul resident as soon as you have the card, regardless of what they are telling you, you do not need a visa, I think the people you are calling are simply confused.....if you have the card you are allowed to travel without the passport regardless of where you are originally from so the visa becomes irrelevant

rasvi

Seems website says RNE holder can enter Chile same as Brazilians citizen
