Hello I'm 20 years old and I'm about to come to Malaysia for my studies. The course I'm getting into will last only one year. So literary I'm getting visa for a one year. I really need to work full-time after my studies so will it be possible to apply for work visa after? Will I have to come back to my home country and reapply?

If you get a job with a salary of RM5k or more per month you don't have to return home. That is the minimum salary to get an employment pass. But usually you need 2 years relevant work experience.

If you want a foreign worker pass then you will need to apply from your home country and its processed by your employer. The likely salary is only RM900-1400 per month.

This week new rules were introduced which means you will have to speak the local language to work in hospitality and will face tests - i.e. more costs.
