Why I am in HCMC

I seem to be getting this question a lot. I have worked for a large University in the United States for 34 years. I have degrees in both Civil and Biomedical Engineering. I am taking my first long trip in years. I went to India to see some former students that have been asking me to visit them for years. My nephew is currently working in HCMC so that seemed to be the logical next place to visit. I like experiencing new cultures but can only speak English. I am thinking about retiring from my University next year and getting some sort of position somewhere in Asia to just experience the culture. I haven't decided on any place in particular.
I would just like to meet some of the local people if possible. I have met my nephew's girlfriend, but she is my only real Vietnamese friend here. She has a job and my nephew to deal with so her time is limited.

Hi,

When you will visit Vietnam? Maybe we have a next gathering during your stay here. If so, you can join us to meet many locals and expats and have great time with us.

Hi

I am already here. I would enjoy meeting you, your group, and the city.

HI

I think I was answering another post. I would enjoy meeting any of you that are available. My nephew and his girl friend work days (and sometimes nights) so I really don't have much to do right now. I have been walking around the city. I have already been taken to the Cathedral, the Palace, and the Temple on the back of a small motorcycle.

You would certainly be welcome to come for the day to visit our English language charity school located about one hour out of HCMC. We have guest come sometimes to visit with the children and give simple lessons. I'm sure you would find this enjoyable and rewarding. The school can send a private car for you. It's an important cause what we are doing here.

Well Mr prbeck , I guess your the only person that can answer that
It matters not where you go , you take yourself with you
Vn , I'd a wonderful country if you can handle the many things that have absolutely no rhyme or reason .
It's like anything in life Sir , it's what YOU make of it
I hope you find a place that you fell comfortable in , there are many Viets on this forum that you could interact with
Just put out the feelers
