Good day!

Good day London!

I am not an expat yet but browsing a lot for any possibilities and opportunities.
Recently, there was an advertisement in Linkedin (www.linkedin.com),
it is one of the Professional network site. I found an advertisement regarding the needs of hotel staffs in Blakes Hotel, so I tend to send my application via email.

Below was the contact details of the person I'm in contact regarding this employment matter:

Human Resources Department
EDWARDS COLLINS
+447031925088
SKYPE ID Edwardcollins64

He emailed me that they are interested on my application aside of being qualified with past job and educational background. I became too vigilant and investigative about this because this might be a scam and will ask me to deposit certain amount.

Please help me to verify their identity, asides, I don't want to waste time hoping from a fake job offer. Thank you so much!

Fred

What is the name of the company he claims to represent?

ECS

this forum is full of people posting about applications for hotel jobs that are almost all scams. If they ask you up front for money to cover visa and processing fees, do not do it!

Fred

That's why I'm after the company name - and any other available details.
Piles of scams, and very few legitimate offers.

LesterCastle

Hi,

as posted, he represents the Blakes Hotel in London.
I noticed a ”too good to be true” offer.
Asides, after I answered the interview questions, he claimed that, this matter will be endorsed for the ticket booking. I responded to him saying, that I have to acquire visa first since I will be coming from the Philippines.
Actually, after emailing him bout the visa, my next email recieved an advisory that the email address was deactivated. It was, theblakeshotelrecruitment@gmail.com, not even a system generated one that made me suspiscious.

Fred

I thought he was claiming to be a recruitment company, not the hotel.
Anyway, I found him and he's a major league spammer.

Numbers are mobiles.
Address is a gmail -what 4 star is going to do that?
He spams the crap out of forums
His web site isn't the hotel's site
His site has been taken down
a load of other stuff.

Forget it, it's a scam.

Its looks very much like a Scam. Avoid it like a barge poll. No 5* hotel will be using a Gmail for an Email address.

SimCityAT

Always go direct with the Hotel if in doubt http://www.blakeshotels.com/contactus

Never give money, if the Hotel wants you, they will contact you directly and will pay Visa costs.

LesterCastle

Thank you so much guys.. I appreciate your time and concern with this fraud.. :)

SimCityAT

I would personally forward your emails you received from him to the Hotel and to here.

You were lucky, others may not be.

Its happen to me before, that someone offer me a job, in the UK as a nanny. I live in Hong kong. and after a few details i got from him he link me some agency site... after i emails the agency,,, the agency ask me to send the money via wester union or moneygram around 1000 pounds. then I'm sure its scammer... because if someone or company support your visa the only one who do processing visa is our self not from any body, they or the company is just give supporting file..

Hi SimcityAT

If you need his actual emails to me, just pm me ur email address.. Thank you!

You will find the majority of these types of offers a scam. I would say one of the reasons is that with the unemployment situation in the country, and across Europe, there isn't a shortage of candidates, especially as those from across the continent can simply come and take it up immediately without the need for a visa approval. It's quite unlikely for an employer to go through the hassle of bringing a non-EU national into the country to fill a hotel staff position. I don't think it's one of those jobs on the shortage list. You can take a look at the list, to see what jobs they need people to fill. If you have what they need, then your prospects is a lot better than a job with a lot of applicants wanting to do it.

This might all change in the future, all depends on the Referendum.

XB23

Sure, but he's looking for a job now. Referendum date is unknown as far as I'm aware, and until results are in, which is also unknown (could be the silent majority opting to stay in and what we are hearing is from the vocal minority), they are free to come whenever they desire. Many are looking to take up anything available. A lot easier than hiring a non-EU national. I doubt there is any shortages.

rustygecko

It's a scam:
A they're asking for money for a job a practice that is illegal in the UK
B it's a premium rate phone number to call

Give me the LinkedIn link please.

LesterCastle

Hi, I tried to look over again the linkedin classified ad they posted but I couldn't see it anymore.
