hello,
it is better to get a visit visa earlier prior to the date of your travel. so you wont be stress yourself thinking..
i will travel also to dubai by road but i already arrange my visa.
you can go to travel agencies for visa.. or if you know someone there in Dubai who can arrange thing.
just give them copy of your passport 
stress free.. hassle free
