New to Luxembourg!!

Post new topic

Danielle S

Hello, I am new to Luxembourg and making friends here is proving to be more difficult than I thought!  I am here as an au pair for a nice family.  I have weekends off and I have attempted to go out and meet people.. the language barrier is just too much!  I am starting a language course tomorrow, so hopefully I can meet someone my age there (wish me luck)!

Any advise on where to go to meet young, nice English speakers? Anyone in the same postition?

Hi Danielle,

I am in the same position. I moved here about 2 weeks ago with my boyfriend and we are struggling to meet new people! Our french isnt very good and we arent doing language courses until the new year so its proving a huge barrier! :)

Glad to hear there are some peope going through the same thing!! Perhaps, we should all meet up!! What do you guys like to do?  I would be up for going to Luxembourg city.. I've read from other Blogs The Tube is a good place to go for English speakers.

Send me your facebooks if you don't mind!  I think we could be better aquainted there :)

Annmarie1

I like to do a mixture of things really, going out, cinema, exercise, shopping you? The Tube is nice, been before i think! still trying to get my bearings of the city!

Blakee1

Hi guys, I'm new and up for meeting people as well. Moved over two weeks ago with Annmarie1 and as she said we are keen to meet people.

We went to the Tube in August when we came to visit and its a nice pub. If you can, drop me a PM with your facebook so we can arrange a time to meet up.

Hi!

I am planning on coming to Luxembourg in November to visit before moving there next summer (July) for a 2 year secondment for work.  I should be there around November 14th, if any of you are around and would like to meet up.  I'd love to get your perspectives on the city/country, things to do, etc.

im in the same boat as you guys i find it boring, don,t get me wrong it,s a beautiful country but whothout knowing anyone around it,s hard and almost forgot i speak no french at all

Blakee1

Hi Peter

It may be a bit boring if you haven't met anyone who lives here yet, but there are loads of us English speaking people around!

I am on my way home for the week, but if you wanted we can arrange to meet up when I am back. There are a few guys and girls around who are looking to expand friends...

Drop me a private message and I'll pass you my Facebook.

Cheers

manekina

hey Peter

you're not the only one who speaks no french here ;-)
and Blakee1 is right, there are lots of the people in the same position and we were sending facebooks to each other as it is easier to stay in touch and get to know each other.

Hi Nepkoo and welcome to the Forum.

You're responding to a thread that's over 7 years old and I suspect as the last poster hasn't logged on the Forum for over 3 years, you won't get much of a response.

Perhaps you should start your own thread in the Forum, asking your questions there.

Hope this helps.
