Hi,

We would like to talk about a sensitive but important topic: do you feel safe in Uganda?

How would you define the level of safety in the country?

Can you walk safely during the day and at night without any fear?

Do you think there is a high rate of criminality, social problems or tensions?

Share with us your insight on safety in Uganda and in the city you live in.

Thank you in advance,

Christine

Hi Christine

I have been living in Kampala since a bit more than a year now, and prior to that was a frequent visitor. I can share my experiences, that especially he areas of Kololo, Nakasero, Naguru, etc are quire safe and you can move around at any time of the day / night.

If you are moving around in a car, then you have nothing to fear. WHile if you are moving around on a bike / walking, obviously you need to excercise usual caution.

I have moved around on work, as late as between midnight to early morning, and have not encountered any issues.

I can also mention about Mbuya and Bugolobi as quite safe, apart from Kampala road or Entebbe road.

Parts of Entebbe are quite dark but nevertheless I have not encountered any reason to worry.

Hope this elaborates and clarifies.

Hi Christine
Just move blindly to kampala. It is the safest place I have found in East Africa after Rwanda.

Police most friendly and co-operative.

All type of foods available. Clubs and Nightlife is good as well.

Good Schools and Corporates.

Climate just awsome. I have stayed with my family and I do miss Kampala a lot.

Best of Luck.

i have lived in Jinjja for 10 months.
generally if you do not have big cash you are not at risk during day time.
Cash handling need very clever and bold person to handle this work.
During day time very safe for common person including expatriates.
Night is nightmare.
After dark you need to be extra careful.
