Repatriating pets to US, need Libya Ministry Certificate of Health

Post new topic

Padrino

I'm going to bring my pets obtained in Libya back to the US with me 'when the time comes'.

The US requires I get, and I'll quote: "Current Health Certificate issued by a full-time salaried veterinarian of the agency responsible for animal health of the national government in the exporting country of origin".

Where does one find this 'agency' within Libya?? Any place to start chasing this one down please??

Thank you.

I might be wrong, but I heard that it was extremely difficult, if not impossible to export animals obtained in Libya?

With the certificate from the 'agency' it is possible. I've brought a dog out of latin america and 3 cats from the Gulf before. You just need the health certifcate from the 'agency' and the US allows them in.

The department/ministry of animal health.

I suggest You contact Dr. Jalal  through  his mail address evc2.2009@yahoo.com . He should be able to provide you with what you need.

Friends of ours went home with 3 cats, it was complicated and expensive, but not impossible, they had to do all the tests that are required in EU, including sending blood samples to UK...
I heard of some vet giving all the required stamps for 10 LYD without seeing a pet, but I'm not sure if it was true or just some urban legend. And I guess it's better to go legal way after all;)
