Hi, My partner will be working in Mont Kiara and we are looking to rent a house in a nice place within 10 km. Mont Kiara prices are a bit steep and tbh would like place where it is a mix of locals and expats. Also cheap good schools nearby.
..

Any suggestions welcome

If you are interested, I have a townhouse in Sri Hartamas (about 2km from Mont Kiara) available for rent soon.

Hello. I can recommend Jalan Ipoh/ Sentul East. I have a few friends working in Hartamas/ Mont Kiara. They are living in Jalan Ipoh area and Sentul East. The condos are good and for middle class upper executives.

Sri KDU would be convenient to Sri Hartamas

New school opening 2015-16 is IGB International School which may be convenient as well.

BUT to be honest you are also going to be near the British International School and that is guaranteed better quality. You could live close to the school or in Bandar Utama which has lots and lots of houses and good shopping facilities..

IGB is open now surely? IB only school though so not really a good idea for Brits

Hi Stephanie,
I do not want to look for a house. I want to find out about locations and schools and commuting to Mon Kiara!

drwho

Thank you for help.

The thing is I don't want to be Middle class or "keep up with the Jones' "
I would like;

Nice safe location with lots to do i.e shopping, restaurants, markets on doorstep
Commutable to Mont Kiara by walking or 15 min car
Nice school nearby with fees under RM8000 per term

;)

British International School

Live in Bandar Utama with very good facilities. Nowhere is walking distance to MK though.

Another option would be Desa Park City. There is an international school there but may have difficulty getting in.

If you use Google maps and search on international or private schools you will see what is available.

Other suggestion made above. But you will be hard pressed to avoid the "middle class" environment as a foreigner in Malaysia as schooling will automatically be in the private sector because of local rules and those schools are attended by well to do Malaysian offspring.

Otherwise you could look in a completely different area closer to KLCC as there are a lot of schools located in the vicinity including Taylors, Fairview, etc.

Hi,

If you are looking for a good international school, why don't you try British International School, Bandar Utama.

Location wise is perfect because there are malls (Tesco, One Utama, Ikea, The Curve, Tropicana Mall), colleges, Universities, loads of restaurants and local coffee shops as well. There's even a golf club 10 minutes away.

If you are looking for a place to rent nearby, I have a condo. 4 Bed, 4 Bathrooms. High Floor with a good view. It's fully furnished so no hassle for you. It's at Bandar Utama area too :)
