Post new topic

I swear it is.  It said it on Saudi TV (October 15th).  Washy-Washy :)

It's a 'Happy Global Handwashing Day' everyday for me :gloria  It's a bit bad to need a chartered day to remind people to wash their hands:|

Hey, with all the colds/flu going around at the moment, I wash my hands or use the sanitizing gel every chance I get!!  :)

bishy118

I thought his meant all you housewives had to hand wash all the laundry and not use the washing machine lol

Exactly!
Do you know what I see quite often and I have to really stop myself from gagging.  The headscraf the Saudi men have - well quite a few times, whilst shopping I see them sneeze into their scrafs then do a big nose blowing session into it also.  You might say, what's the problem with that at least they are using something.  Well, the problem is, it's all out there on a cloth on their heads and for all to see :nothappy:

Yep, a guthra is a useful thing  (I've seen guys in cubicles drape it so you can't see their faces from the side and don't know they're dozing at their computers--seriously!!).

I've seen the sneezing and coughing  into it (which I do appreciate) but never the nose-blow (I'm laughing right now because this has the possibilities of becoming like that well-known scene from 'All about Mary' !!)

Global Handwashing Day is a campaign to motivate and mobilize millions around the world to wash their hands with soap. The campaign is dedicated to raising awareness of handwashing with soap as a key approach to disease prevention.

Sneezing and blowing ones nose on the Guthra is no different to the age old handkerchief that the Brits gave us back in the old days. Only difference is that we kept the snutty kerchiefs in our pockets. That was way before Ms Kleenex was even conceived.

In the times we raised our babies back home in SL we didn't even have Diapers and used square shaped cotton pieces of cloth that were called napkins used with large safety pins, and reused them after a good sanitized hand wash and drying under the radiation of the freely available sun.

Funnily enough we never had B&W TV. We got color, straight from Day 1 courtesy of the great Japanese Emperors who constructed our very first TV Station free of charge as a gesture of their great goodwill. Since then, SONY, TOSHIBA, SAMSUNG, PANASONIC, have been smiling all the way to the vault.

But that's my point - it is kept out of sight, not for all to see.  The point of the hankie is now known as unhygenic as you are meant to 'Catch it, bin it, kill it' not catch it, parade it and spread it by any means - such a yuky practice if you ask me.

Well, Ms Kleenex, took good care of all that except for the fact that we are losing the poor trees at a rapid rate

Well, believe it or not my daughter was raised on what we called in the UK "Terry" nappies.  They wear large cotton quares that was folded into a triangle and held together with a large pin - MM are you impressed?  I was in the last batch of a dying breed of Mums as straight after that the Pampers dynamic kicked in and the world went 'disposable' mad.  I still remember having to HANDWASH out those nappies daily and sterilise them - Boy, if the young ones had any idea!!!

Ive washed them by my hands, myself, for our firstborn, by the time the second one came along, six years later, the planet had gone all dispo.....

It was fun!

funkydelicguy

i've watched on the television yesterday that the advisable duration of washing our hands is the same as the duration of singing "Happy Birthday Song" (on its normal tempo).

so children... sing happy birthday while washing your hands.
