Music in Papua New Guinea

Post new topic

Hi,

Music is said to be a universal language. Indeed it helps to discover and better understand the culture of a country.

What are the most popular music genres in Papua New Guinea? How about traditional music and instruments?

Who are the local artists you would recommend?

Where can you listen to them: are there any concerts or music festival held regularly?

Thank you in advance for participating,

Kenjee

Hi,

If you are in PNG, You could tune into a local station like Radio Madang on 90.4 or R & ENB Radio on 103.90 so forth;
each Radio Station prefer playing their local beats. You get to hear String band and the Bamboo Bands.

One of the local string band which is still a hit despite being popular in the 1990's is the City Hikers of East New Britain Province, with Bamboo bands from Bouganville etc.
