Bank A/C without the original passport

Post new topic

Friends,

Is it possible for me to open a saving account without my original passport. I am an expat on EP. My passport has gone for EP endorsement to the immi dept and has got stuck in the endless queue due to a technical issue at their end.

Meanwhile I need to open a bank A/C to do my salary transactions.

Do banks accept my Stage 1 approval letter for opening an account?

Any help in this regard is appreciated !!!!

Thanks,
Anwar

No, you need your passport (they take a copy of details page and EP) and a letter from your employer confirming your status with them.

Same issue happened for me. My company issued salary by cash out check. I in-cashed the check directly for money.

Hi harshisr,

Is the cash out check similar to Banker's Cheque. Do we need an ID proof to cash the cheque?

Regards,
Anwar

Hi,

Yes they require ID proof. Mostly a letter from company and photostate of  passport will work. It is similar to bankers cheque on ur name.
