Driving in UAE

Hello my dear friends,

I will be moving to UAE with my company as my company's next project is in UAE. My current project in Oman is going to. Complete in 1 or 2.
I have a valid driving license of 'PRIVATE LIGHT, category in Oman obtained in May-14 , and here I am driving my own car.

If I go to UAE , will my omani driving license is valid for driving there in UAE. Weather the conversion of Omanu driving license to UAE driving license is possible ? Do I reduire to give some road test in UAE for conversion.

Yes u can transfer ur oman driving license to UAE by giving road test.. it costs u nly 125 Dhms if u passed in 1st Test !!!! Am talking abt Abu Dhabi / Al Ain...am not sure if there is any change in Dubai and other emirates. u havnt mentioned about the location which u r going to work and stamp visa....

Now adays its also hearing tht all GCC Licenses are valid here..Dont knw whether this rule came into act..

I have heard that nowadays licence from any part of gulf is valid to drive anywhere in middle east ? I am not confirm about this

If the above rule applies then why is it required to give road test in UAE?

if I don't get test cleared in first time in UAE then what next ?

There is road test only until u pass..if u r having GCC license according to the rule as in Mar 2015 wen i got mine...am not aware abt the present condition. All licenses are same rule was there at tht time also...but it didnt come into act...Am talking about abu dhabi - al ain...dont knw abt other emirates....

Although unified GCC licenses were started from January 2015, the UAE still requires a road test if you are an Indian national (or for that matter not a national of a list of exempted countries). Other GCC countries only require payment of a fee to exchange one GCC license for another. Only the UAE is different.
