The climate in Sapa makes it great for growing chayote. The chayote’s stem and leaves are often stir-fried with garlic whilst the fruits are boiled with carrot then dipped in sesame salt or stir-fried with beef and garlic.

Also known as bamboo cooked rice, com lam is a typical food in the mountainous mountain area of Vietnam, and Sapa is not an exception. After being grilled, the bamboo can be easily removed; all left is the attractive flavor of rice.
