What organizations expats can turn to if they want to volunteer in Guatemala?

How to join a charitable institution, what are the steps?

Which causes have the greatest need for volunteers in Guatemala?

I have found the best way to find a place to volunteer is to ask around in the town you are in. Look for posters put up at bars, restaurants, and the market. Join some Facebook groups for the area you are living in and ask the members where is a good place to help.

I live at Lake Atitlan, near Panajachel

mayanfamilies.org > Mayan Families

is a very good charity here that helps both people and animals. They have an application process on their website, but in truth it is much easier to go to their building and ask what help they need.
