Applying for Job w/o Strong Experience

Post new topic

Hi all,
I just want to ask if, is there a chance to get hired when you have not much experience to the specific job position you applying for? I'm a degree holder of management accounting and planning to apply in any different kind of job in finance/accounting department in Singapore. I have overall 4 years experience in accounting but not in all aspects. And I still want to work in the same industry. Is it employer consider those applicant? Or they really looking for experienced people?

Thanks ahead :)

Accountancy qualifications from the Philippines do not qualify for direct entry to The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) as CA (Singapore) designation.

To acquire the necessary skills and knowledge needed to be a Chartered Accountant of Singapore (CA (Singapore), you have to make enquire with ISCA whether your degree is an Accredited Accountancy Degree here (NB : most Philippines accountancy degrees are not accredited and even Philippines CPAs are having difficulty securing jobs here).

If it is, you have to enrol for the Singapore Qualification Programme (ACCA and ISCA will administer the Singapore QP). It is a comprehensive post-graduation accountancy programme equipping you with the necessary local skills and knowledge needed to be a Chartered Accountant of Singapore. Upon completion of the Singapore QP, candidates will be conferred the CA (Singapore) designation.

Another option or possibility, is to take up the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional exams.

Without which, depending on your skillsets (as you do not have any local experience), you may have to try to seek for employers who are willing to give you a lower-level accounting job positions.

Hi, thank you for your response. Actually it's okay for me to start from the lower position. My concern is, is it possible to get hired without relevant experience on the field that you applying for? And if there is company will hire me and process my working permit (a foreigner like me). How sure that it can be approved? Is it the MOM rely on based on your experience so that they will approve the permit? Or can you give me some idea on what are those qualification of MOM needs to make a work visa approve?

Thanks a lot.

MoM is looking at very many criteria (and does not publish which ones).
If you have no experience relevant to the job, your chances are low to zero.

Maybe I will just apply based on my qualification and experienced. I'm hoping for the positive outcome.
Thank you for the infos.  :)
