About Your SS check for 2016--no increase

Post new topic

According to this article, there will be no cost-of-living raise (COLA) in SSA for 2016. Meanwhile, there was a 700% increase in a particular drug for some patients, as you may know, So, what else is new in the pharmaceutical industry, other than generating more revenues? It's a billionaire dollar making industry, thus the essence of privatized medicine in the U.S.
There could be other mitigating circumstances for the recent decision to not increase SS which I won't comment on.
Meanwhile, in addition to the homelessness crisis reported in the news in LA, this exists at startling numbers in other parts of the U.S. as well, Again, no comment, so as to avoid incrimination.

No COLA increase for 2016.  The benefit rose only 1.7 percent in 2015.  It's all bad news for anyone hoping to bump their Social Security benefit over the $800 per month minimum to qualify for EC's pension visa.

SSA took in more billions than it paid out last year, according to the new report.  So .. claims that it will go broke anytime in the next several decades are suspect.  Especially since Congress has mucho time to tinker with the numbers going forward.

The no-COLA decision was based on a low rate for the relevant consumer-price index.

Only 700%? Could be worse. See the latest from this pharma ceo clown? A 5,000% rise.

Got the military industrial complex, and now we got the pharmaceutical industrial complex. Actually we also got the mainstream media industrial complex, and two party system industrial complex, health insurance industrial complex, fossil fuel industrial complex. Missing anything else? Should have listened to Ike's stern warning about such things in his 1961 farewell address.
