Life in saudi arabia for indians.

Post new topic

ranjithm

Hi myself ranjith from manglore karnataka currently working in a hospital x-ray dept. recently i m shortlisted for a general hospital in ksa they have branches all over ksa so they did'nt mention which specific i have to join.

*salary is 4500sar plus accommodation(did nt mention what type housing) and transportation

*how is the lifestyle in saudi for indians do all(non muslims) women have to wear abaya(black gown) ?i m engaged now and will be getting married in few months i m hindu. my religion wont allow to wear it.

*i have visited canada few days back to meet my brother as he s onsite there now though cold(horrible) and we need to have proper visa to get job there but after returning to india i felt i enjoyed the life there for 4 months.
* i visited pubs with my brother and had drinks and went to some nice scenic places(vancouver), toronto its very beautiful  it was little boring as it was my 1st away frm india but there is lot of freedom and we can enjoy the way we want

I m very much worried about whether to take this job offer or not in saudi arabia.
i want to make money its ok upto some restrictions but when i google i ' m getting mixed responses . i heard abt its nt very expensive country but i m very concerned about restrictions and how the people and employer behaves with indians there.

Grateful for your responses

Priscilla

Accommodation would be shared mostly...Transportation would be hospital car/ bus

You will have to war the abaya when you step out of your house irrespective of your religion else you will fines by the authorities....Maybe you can do without covering your hair but that too depends on where you are posted...

If yo say your religion won't allow it and you can't wear it, then KSA would not be a good option...Even at the hospital you would be required to cover your hair at all times and would not be able to leave it open....

You will not have the life you had at Canada in the Kingdom...No Pubs, No Alcohol, No Movie theatres, No Churches/ Temples nothing....

KSA is beautiful in its own way and the scenic views are present across the Kingdom...

One more info...Non-Muslims are not allowed to Makkah also...

It's not too expensive here...

But I suggest that you don't come here if you can't align with the culture of KSA and the religion of Islam as the constitution is based on the Quran...

All the best...

Agree with the above. It's very clear you will struggle there. Best to see if you can find work in Canada.

i agree with u i saw many asians enjoy while studying and working in canada we can talk freely with anyone there in fact the jet airways flight from india left my baggage in india only when i reached officers at airport  they people addressed me as ''Sir'' even though i dnt look or dress like a businessmen or vip i felt so nice with the officer gesture and next day i got my baggage delivered at home i did nt even lock my baggage and airport was 130km away still i had all my stuffs within

.i respect and obey all rules and regulations anywhere in the world and we have to.
if i move to saudi arabia my family will come to visit me so i think it would be big embarassment if my family members have to wear something unusual black they never wear throughout life and i will definitely receive blaming in my home country for this.

Then you should only go there if it's the only option you have left. Some go with the main priority to make money and save, rather than quality of life, so are willing to put up with the restrictions and lifestyle. It depends what you value more.

the salary will be approximately 4200 sar = $1,120 pm its not a high salary(may b average salary or less than that ) bt i can manage in this . i think still its better if its good salary so that i can work 2-4 yrs and save some good money for better future.

It's upto you...

One more thing. ..once you reach ksa and rent after a few months you thing you want to opt then that's not possible...

The Company will ask you for a huge fee to issue you an final exit...

Its not that easy to just resign and go home cause there are expenses for your visa and flight tickets and insurance. ..

Better would be Canada until and unless you're ready to sacrifice to save money. ...

Mostly your contract would be 2 or 3 yrs...so you'll have to complete it to go an exit. ..

All the best...
