Hi, I am a British guy with 3 years of professional in construction industry, looking to move to Malaysia. I'm now a design engineer. I've done work placement in KL before through my university. I'm looking for a career in the same industry or in consultancy.

What chances do I have? What is the best way to find a job there? I'm also thinking to join associations for Brits in Malaysia as a way to networking, can I know one or two?

Thanks!

Hi to be honest you sound too young (min age 27) and inexperienced to make a successful move. Of course some get lucky and there are some dodgy employers (often those finacial sales ones who one young cheap sales people  and they "somehow" get work permits) who get all sorts. Often these leave Malaysia though as pay low.

Of course on the upside there is a lot of construction in KL.

Obvious no brainer start with you contacts in KL. If they cant get you a job you are unlikely to get a complete stranger on the net do it for you!

2nd chance try an MNC where you are now.

Or plan for the future get more experience and plan a move ahead.

Of course that all goes to pot if the reason for the move wears a skirt lol

Thanks for your reply. I know my chances are quite slim given my circumstances, but well...

This.

I guess my best bet would be going through a company here.
