American moving to Chartres in 2016

Post new topic

Hello!,
My name is Layne and I will be moving to a village outside of Chartres in March 2016. I will be an au pair to three adorable children for the next year and a half. I do not know anyone in France at this time and thought this would be a great way to reach out to other people in my area. Feel free to contact me if you would like to introduce yourself and maybe we can set up a group outing once settled in our new homes! ***Also looking for any personal advice on being an au pair or on Chartres as a whole!

Cheers!,
Layne

Hello Layne,

I may have no specific piece of advice to give you as to how an au pair experience might or might not be like, but I'd be very glad to possibly provide you with any kind of help regarding transport and/or accomodation tips.

I am from here. I just happen to be bilingual. I live in Toulouse, and I would even be honored to show you around the city center in case you're curious about it all.

We could exchange e-mails if you want.
Feel free to ask me anything.

Welcome to France.

Warm regards,
A.

Hi ! I'm French, lived in the US for 8 years and have ben moving quite a lot through France for the past 20 years. I know "la région Centre" quite well for having studied and worked in diffrent cities of the region during 4 years. I've got some family in Chartres an should be moving in Blois  at the end of April.  so if you want to visit places together (châteaux de la Loire for example), just ask !
Here a 2 nice places to go to in Chartres :
- La macaronnerie : http://www.lamacaronnerie-chartres.fr/ (excellent macarons  and hot chocolates !)
- of course, the cathedral.
Bye !
