If you are from Haiti you sort of missed the boat earlier this year when registration was open and easy.  You will now need to work through the immigration office (no longer open in Puerto Plata) probably in Santo Domingo and you will need a ton of paperwork from Haiti as well.  Not going to be an easy process.

Hi,

I am out of country, and my Cedula has expired, is there a way I can get my Cedula renewed without going back to the DR?

planner

Good question!!! I will see what I can find out. Welcome to the forums!!!

Mohill83

Thank you.  That'll be very helpful.  Or how do I go about renewing my expired passport as well without going back to the DR. Is there a service offered.

planner

So you are Dominican?  Rules are different for you then for an expat.

Mohill83

My friend.

planner

IS your friend Dominican then????

Mohill83

Yes

Mohill83

Just trying to help.

Online coming soon DR citizen passport

planner

Okay thanks.  Yes he or she needs to contact their local embassy wherever you are and do the renewals that way for now.

Your cedula number stays on file. A $500 usd per year fine for each year or part there of to be paid to renew an expired cedula.  Beyond that, I have no idea what is required. It is possible that my friends attorney was scamming. I will ask my lawyer what the true skinny is.  Good luck.  I do know it is different for locals.

Tinker they are discussing a DOMINICAN renewing not an expat.

Ah, another case of faulty vision. I think perhaps I should give up on posting since I'm committing so many errors. All it does is remind me of the hell of going blind. Sorry folks for the blunders & your wasted time. The Tuba appears to be running out of hot air. ...........

ahhhh honey,  I  cannot imagine how tough  this is for you!

Mohill83

What is coming soon?

planner

Online renewals for Dominicans honey.

Mohill83

Oh great!  Keep me posted or direct me where to go

Nosnownyc

The newspaper DOMINICAN Today , last week it was published regarding DR citizens if they already have an existing passport will soon be able to renew online and pick up en the capital.

Mohill83

Oh wow!  That's great: I hope we are able to renew online although we are no longer in  DR. Fingers Crossed. Thank you for the uodat

I got  my first RD passport at consult in NYC , a breeze !
Check your local resources.

A Dominican citizen can renew a cedula and passport at a Dominican consulate. In the US these can be found in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Chicago, Miami, New York City and Boston. The consulates DO NOT provide these service online.

Welcome to the forums. I am a bit confused. You got a job where? In the USA or DR?

abreuimmigration

The same consulate where you obtained the NM visa can assist you to get the NM1 visa.
